Book Launch with Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub in Conversation with Ahmed Elghandour (ElDaheeh)

The American University in Cairo Press had the honor of hosting a special evening celebrating the paperback launch of "A Surgeon and a Maverick: The Life and Pioneering Work of Magdi Yacoub," ahead of its worldwide release on 4 November 2025. Held at Ewart Memorial Hall, AUC Tahrir Square, on 23 October 2025, the event featured a captivating conversation between Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub and AUC alumnus Ahmed El Ghandour, host of the popular YouTube show ElDaheeh. The hour-long discussion explored Professor Yacoub’s remarkable achievements, his philanthropic legacy, and the deeply human side behind his pioneering medical career. Guests then enjoyed a book signing session, where attendees met Professor Yacoub, had their copies signed, and shared a moment of celebration with one of Egypt’s most inspiring figures. The event was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including General Khaled Fouda, Advisor to the Egyptian President for Local Development; H.E. Amre Moussa, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt; Engineer Ibrahim Mehleb, former Prime Minister of Egypt; Dr. Moustafa El Feki, Egyptian politician and intellectual; Mr. Hussein Fahmy, acclaimed Egyptian actor; and Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum, among others.
