Bishop C. M. Bailey Way Honorary Street Designation 4/2/24
On Tuesday, April 2nd, the City of Savannah designated a portion of Ogeechee Road in front of the Ogeechee Road United House of Prayer for All People, "Bishop C.M. Bailey Way." The honorary designation was approved by City Council on February 22, 2024. The late Bishop C.M. Bailey passed away on Aug. 11, 2023. He was the fourth Bishop of the United House of Prayer for All People, which has established affordable housing in various communities around the nation, including Savannah, scholarship opportunities for youth and extracurricular activities like sports, musical bands, and choirs. Bishop C.M. Bailey led the Ogeechee Road United House of Prayer for All People for 15 years. The honorary street name designation is intended to recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community. The designation does not interfere with the official name of the street.
