Saving the planet and restoring the biosphere cannot be achieved through calculations alone, from an external, technocratic perspective that perpetuates our experience and understanding of the environment as a mere resource to manage, a vast warehouse at our service, or a space to heal, grow healthier, and learn with wonder. It requires a transformation of our way of life, a profound shift in our consciousness in relation to the Earth and to ourselves. A hyper-technological and robotic world cannot be ecological or sustainable; much less will it be humane. Nature is not just the environment that surrounds us. It is ourselves, and above all, the way we relate to each other, how we learn to live and coexist, protecting and cultivating life. If we continue to foster a sense of guilt for what we are doing to the planet, we will continue to run from discomfort, distancing ourselves from reality and/or blaming others. Learning to love the Earth is the challenge we need to face for the ecological shift to become a genuine and lasting reality. In this dialogue with Héctor Márquez we will review both the trajectory of one of the world's leading figures on human development in contact with Nature and the changes and strategies necessary to change the mentality of today's society both in childhood education and in adult communication.
