Ten years ago today, I woke up hungover for the last time. That morning changed everything. In this video, I’m sharing my full sobriety story. I talk about what my drinking looked like from my teenage years through my career as a hospice nurse, how addiction can exist even when life looks successful from the outside, and the moment that finally made me stop drinking. I also share something people don’t talk about enough. Quitting alcohol didn’t magically fix my life. I stayed sober for 11 months and felt miserable, anxious, and lost. I almost started drinking again. What changed next is what helped me build the sober life I have today. This video is for anyone who is questioning their relationship with alcohol, anyone supporting someone struggling with addiction, or anyone curious about what long-term sobriety actually looks like. I share my personal experience with recovery, how a 12-step program helped me, and what life has been like over the past decade learning how to live, have fun, and feel free without substances.
