It has attracted a number of shops, including a world-famous sweets shop, a bookstore, and a furniture store, and rents out some of the guest rooms to companies as satellite offices with unlimited access to hot springs. In addition, in April of this year, it renovated its banquet hall and even opened a Japanese language school. At the center of the reforms is third-generation president Yoshimoto Obara. His goal is to make ryokans a place to visit, not just stay.
