Labor Day Weekend: SP 2472's Last Niles Canyon Excursions

Earlier this year, in the spring of 2015, the Golden Gate Railroad Museum announced that they will be leaving Niles Canyon next year. This weekend was their last weekend of public excursions on the PLA-owned Niles Canyon Railway. (Click "see more" for continued description) Also see the below link for on-board footage.    • Niles To Sunol Behind SP 2472 (Plus Photo ...   Featured in the video are 4 pieces of the GGRM's collection: SP 2472 (4-6-2 "Pacific"), SP 3194 (EMD GP9), SP 1487 (Fairbanks Morse H-12-44), and the SP 2979 (art deco lounge car) as they make 6 trips between Sunol and Niles over two days. Also featured on the second day is a 1956 Leslie S5T with aluminum tabbed back power chambers, which is rare to find in California. The horn was mounted on SP 3194 for the second day of operations.
