A Quiet Riverside Village in Northern Laos | Muang Ngoy

Muang Ngoy, Laos ended up being one of our favourite stops along the Nam Ou River. Reached by boat about an hour upriver from Nong Khiaw, this small riverside village feels peaceful and scenic. We spent three nights in Muang Ngoy walking through the village, visiting the local Buddhist temple, and taking a day trip upriver before kayaking all the way back down the Nam Ou. We passed dramatic limestone mountains, small riverside villages, weaving communities, and some very enthusiastic mud-pie makers. Even with a rainy start, Muang Ngoy quickly became a highlight of our time in northern Laos.
