VTXL FKT: Riding 300 Miles Across Vermont

The VTXL is a 300 mile gravel route that spans the state of Vermont, from its northern border with Canada to its southern border with Massachusetts. For a small state, it packs a punch, as it's more than 90% gravel and delivers unrelenting climb after climb (after climb after climb after climb...). Ted King was the first person to ride this route in 2021 as an all out assault, pushing his limits without stopping in a single 24 hour period. Hundreds of others have taken on the route in a more traditional bikepacking adventure over anywhere from two days to a week. Still others have since taken Ted's crown as the fastest known time, the FKT, as the time has ticked ever lower. Now with the record setting time remaining the same for more than a year, Ted thought he would give it a crack to take back his home-state gravel ultra.
