Chulalongkorn University Confers Honorary Degrees to the King and Queen of Bhutan | Historic Event ---- A compilation of images from the historic event on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Chulalongkorn University Auditorium. His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuk of the Kingdom of Bhutan visited Chulalongkorn University to receive honorary doctoral degrees, amidst the joy and pride of the Chulalongkorn University community and the Thai people. On this auspicious occasion, Chulalongkorn University held a ceremony to confer an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree in International Development. To His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his people through sustainable development. At the same time, an honorary Doctor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology was conferred upon Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuk in recognition of her contributions to the development of the people's lives. Following the completion of the degree conferment ceremony, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck delivered a royal address to the administrators and faculty. On this auspicious occasion, Chulalongkorn University presented the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree in International Development Studies (International Programme) to His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. This distinction is in recognition of His Majesty’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of his people, guided by the principles of sustainable development. Concurrently, the University presented the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Sociology and Anthropology to Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck. This honor recognizes Her Majesty’s compassionate leadership in advancing the well-being and sustainable development of the Bhutanese people.
