Parsons Jr. Gets Last Minute Ride With Foyt, Crashes While Shaking Down Car (1988 Indianapolis 500)

72nd Indianapolis 500 - Johnny Parsons Jr. felt like his chances to make the Indy 500 were pretty slim with his original Euromotorsport entry On Bump Day, AJ Foyt was set to bring out a new car for George Snider, who was ill and stepped out of a different Foyt ride for Stan Fox. Snider, who was actually ill, had also decided to retire from the Indy 500 With an open seat, Foyt decided to give Parsons Jr. a shot. Foyt would shake down the car before handing the keys over to Parsons. Parsons, on one of his first laps in the car, stuffed it into the north short shoot wall, ending any hope of making the field, and sticking Foyt with an unwanted crash damage bill However, Foyt was incredibly cool about the whole thing, saying he was just glad to see Johnny okay This would be the second straight year of a DNQ for Parsons at Indy. Parsons would have 8 straight DNQs between 1987 and 1995 before making the field in 1996 My Links 𝕏 https://x.com/Hickey93 Venmo https://account.venmo.com/u/hickey93 Buy Me a Coffee https://buymeacoffee.com/hickey Timestamps 0:00 Parsons Gives Bleak Outlook 1:05 Parsons Spotted with Foyt 1:31 Parsons Rumored to Foyt 2:29 Pit Box Acivity 3:12 Foyt Shakedown Run 7:26 Foyt Returns to Pits 8:45 Parsons Enters Car 10:57 Parsons Leaves Pits 11:46 Parsons Crashes 12:46 Replay 13:23 Foyt Interview Disclaimer: This video contains footage and/or music that I do not own.
