3 Jerry Garcia Licks From 1981

Hey gang! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Jerry Garcia Licks From 1981. I've had a lot of requests to finally feature the legendary Jerry Garcia on the channel, and while I wouldn't consider myself a "Deadhead," I'm definitely familiar with their music. I eventually dove into The Dead many years ago, and not long after hearing Jimmy Herring reinterpret their music with his beyond-inspired group Jazz Is Dead in the late 1990s and early 2000s - anyway, let's dive in and grab some tasty licks! This lesson revolves around a handful of ideas by Mr. Garcia from a Grateful Dead live TV appearance from Germany in 1981. The ideas shared here include some signature moves from "Captain Trips" himself. This includes a smooth emotive bluesy phrase, a slick position-shifting idea, a blurry pivot-arpeggio legato phrase, a funky Mu-Tron lick from the classic song Shakedown Street, a "dizzy finger" melodic blues phrase, and more! Needless to say, if you're a Grateful Dead fan, a viewer that asked for me to feature this legendary guitarist on the channel, a player looking to add some slick licks to their bag of tricks, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you!
